From Where I Stand
04:57
|
|||
Watching the news is giving me the blues
What a tangled web they weave
Try as they might I still know wrong from right
And here’s what I believe
From where I stand, for what it’s worth
We ain’t got much time on earth
From where I stand it’s so clear
It’s a miracle we’re here
To have a chance to have some fun
Do some good, to love someone
So come on take my hand and see what I see
From where I stand
When you go it alone, this world is one cold stone
So, won’t you keep me company?
When we open our eyes to see the next sunrise
There’s no place I’d rather be
Chorus:
Bridge:
The world outside is so divided
Let’s leave it all behind
You lock the door and I’ll pull the curtains
Together we’ll be just fine
And when the sun lights up the morning
We’ll have a beautiful view
There’s gonna be a new day dawning
And I want to face it with you
Chorus: Repeat Chorus:

I Know Who You Are
04:01
|
|||
If the truth is for the asking
Can we ever really know another’s heart
There will be times you can be certain
When Faith must play its part
And you worry I’ll feel different
If I come to know who you are
If it’s the truth that you’re after
You won’t have to look far
I know who you are
When the morning sun lights up your face
And you reach for me with your warm embrace
Did you know you’re my saving grace?
I know who you are
When the chips are down you stand so tall
You show the world what you’re made of
You amaze me with that kind of love
I know who you are
You’re the one who said: “Go with the wind”
You’ll find your treasures in the end
When you know who you are”
I know who you are
When I was weary you gave me strength
A place to rest and lay down my things
You helped me mend a broken wing
I know who you are
You give your love so easily
Like a bird held high and released
You say some things were meant to be free
I know who you are
When the day is done, I’ll come to you
And I’ll fall back in your arms
I know who you are
And I’ll fall back I your arms
I know who you are

This Old House
03:46
|
|||
This old house is where my story first begins
I got the word that progress was closing in
There’s a beat-up bulldozer revving-up in the drive
Strange to think this will be our final goodbye
It’s a shame the old girl is going out this way
So far removed from her glory days
Vines have grown twisted across the front gate
A homeless scene behind Mother Nature’s crime tape
This old house will always be a part of me You can haul her away but in my heart she‘ll remain
I’m leaving here with these Polaroid’s of forgotten dreams
I out-grew like a pair of worn-out jeans
Peering down the front hall behind this kicked in door
The dust and rain have done a number on these hardwood floors
Some local kids have been camping out here and partying late
We used to do the same thing too when we were their age
Watch the cars whizzing by out on the new interstate
Some would call that progress some would call it fate
I remember kissing Kate any chance on the front porch swing
I heard she lost her battle back in the early spring
Bridge: Still, it’s gonna be alright
I can call her to mind - any old time
I need a childhood friend of mine
This old house is where my story first began
I got the word that progress was moving in

Love Says It Best
05:10
|
|||
I once asked a friend of mine how he could stay so calm
In the face of another’s anger he replied with his usual charm
He said: “I’m not here to judge another, to shame them or to be cruel
You see when I was just a child, I was taught the fruits of the golden rule”
You do unto others as you’d have them do unto you
It may sound old fashioned, but it always rings true
Open your heart, and let go of the rest
All you have to do is try, love says it best
A man of Faith like no other man I’ve ever known
With an unshakable knowing that we’re never alone
And the lessons that he taught me are still trying hard to break through
I still struggle with the notion I could have that same Faith too
And do unto others as you’d have them do unto you
It may sound old fashioned, but it’ll always ring true
Open your heart, and let go of the rest
All you have to do is try, love says it best
Love says it best, love says it best, love says it best
Bridge:
When a harsh word is spoken, a promise is broken
You begin to wonder what’s the use
That’s when these words ring loud and true
Love one another, we’re all sisters and brothers
We’re here to help each other, that’s what we’re meant to do
Open your heart, and let go of the rest
All you have to do is try, love says it best
All you have to do is try, love says it best
Love says it best, love says it best love says it best

So Have I
04:02
|
|||
Leaves falling like pieces of my heart
When did we drift so far apart?
Birds have flown and so have I
So have I, so have I
What good are all these tears?
We always end up right back here
Waiting for a summer breeze
To lift us up and set us free
Chorus:
Leaves falling like pieces of my heart
When did we drift so far apart?
Birds have flown and so have I
So have I, so have I
Looking down from way up here
Funny how things become so clear
With a little distance, time and space
We’ll both be in a better place
Chorus:
Bridge:
There’s no one to blame we both played our part
Let’s try to forgive this is not who we are
Chorus:
Leaves falling like pieces of my heart
When did we drift so far apart?
Birds have flown and so have I
So have I, so have I
So have I, so have I
So have I, so have I

She’s connected to this world
In ways I don’t understand
A city girl holding nature’s hand
Walking barefoot through the grass
Picking flowers with the neighbor’s cat
A marigold now adorns her hat
Chorus:
That’s how she moves through this world
Nothing ever gets in her way
She embraces every single day
Without a care in this world ahhh that girl
That’s how she moves through this world
That’s how she moves through this world
And as her day is winding down
She draws her bath and a cup of tea
By candlelight she sings softly
Chorus:
That’s how she moves through this world
Nothing ever gets in her way
She embraces every single day
Without a care in this world ahhh that girl
That’s how she moves through this world
That’s how she moves…
Bridge:
A girl like her could never promise love for long
I always knew one day I’d blink, and she’d be gone
That’s how she moves through this world
Nothing ever gets in her way
She embraces every single day
Without a care in this world ahhh that girl
That’s how she moves through this world
That’s how she moves through this world
That’s how she moves through this world

Where This River Goes
04:45
|
|||
If I had a boat, I would leave these troubled waters
Cast off these stones that have held me to the bottom
For so long and for so long I’ve held on
Chorus:
I bow my head and close my eyes
It’s time to face goodbye
I’ll push off from the shore
Lay down these oars
I don’t need to know
Where this river goes
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
Where she goes
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
You and I we will survive this time of sorrow
We will get by and for this we will be stronger
In the end, with this end we begin
Chorus:
Bridge:
The world will keep turnin’ life will go on despite our broken hearts
We can’t go back to the way things were
We can’t deny the way things are
We can’t ever know here this river goes
Chorus:
I bow my head and close my eyes
It’s time to face goodbye
I’ll push off from the shore
Lay down these oars
I don’t need to know
Where this river goes
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
Where she goes
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
Where she goes
Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na
Repeat Chorus:

Bigger Than Dallas
04:34
|
|||
I took two jobs working in the city
I say it’s for the money but the truth is I can’t sleep
I find comfort in these stranger’s faces
They can’t see the old me she left wasted
I’ve got a hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
And the wind blows through as lonely as west Texas
There’s ain’t no fixin’ this like busted fences
I’ve got a hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
A hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
Today I think someone saw me crying
I guess it won’t be long now before everyone starts prying
Maybe she won’t haunt me down in Galveston
Maybe I’m just dying to tell someone
I’ve got a hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
And the wind blows through as lonely as west Texas
There ain’t no fixin’ this like busted fences
I’ve got a hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
A hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
I’ve got a hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
And the wind blows through as lonely as West Texas
Now there ain’t no fixin’ this like busted fences
I’ve got a hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
I’ve got a hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
A hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
I’ve got a hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
I’ve got a hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
A hole in my heart bigger than Dallas
I’ve got a hole in my heart hmmmm…

How many times have we seen the sun go down?
The lights go on in the hills around this town
How many times have we walked this boulevard?
It’s the same old scene when did it get so hard
Chorus:
Makes me wanna run somewhere we’ve never been
Baby I don’t need to see this town again
I don’t know where it ends but I’m ready to begin
Take only what we need and throw caution to the wind
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
How would it feel to leave this all behind?
With nothin’ but a glimmer of the life that we might find
How’d you like to put that sunset in the rear-view mirror
Wake up tomorrow 500 miles from here
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Roll down the window we’ll say our goodbyes
We’re a match to gasoline now lighting up the sky
I don’t mind if you want to drive
It’s been a long, long time since I felt so alive
Chorus:
Makes me want to run somewhere we’ve never been
Baby I don’t need to see this town again
I don’t know where it ends but I’m ready to begin
Take only what we need and throw caution to the wind
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa,
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa – Repeat (2)

Traveling Light
04:01
|
|||
There’s view from up here
You can’t get from the valley below
You see the mill quit the town, now the river runs dry
And no one has tears left to cry
No tears left to cry
The truth is I’ve turned, and I’ve run
Done things for which I’m ashamed
Once a maker of kings now just a pawn in the game
I’ve long since quit leveling the blame
Quit leveling the blame
Leveling the blame
Another sun drops in the western sky
I turn to face the coming of the night
It’s a long road ahead until the morning arrives
And there’ll be no tears left to cry
No tears left to cry
When the day breaks, I’ll be whole again
The cracks in my soul patched with gold
There’s a taste on my tongue of good things to come
From here on out I’ll be traveling light
Moving on I’ll be traveling light
